Welcome

It's a little late to be starting this, over twelve months in to the quest, but as it only seems to be getting bigger and better, I decided it was important to have somewhere to document the trips, and the memories, and the photos, before we've been to so many places that we start to forget.

A little introduction, I'm Sam, I work in an office pushing buttons and living a fairly sedentary 9-5 existence. The guy in the picture with the big face, that's Liam, my housemate and fellow adventurer (and the one with a car.) He plays with children for a living.

The quest had its embryonic beginnings somewhere around Christmas 2010, when we decided to plan a monumental road trip, all the way from Bristol up to Scotland, to travel the length of the Outer Hebrides for a week, my brother Luke got in on the act and plans were set. Plans turned into reality and in May we made our way up the M5, small step for a holidaymaker, great leap for a couple of new-found island baggers. I'll document the time we had in Scotland separately, but suffice to say by the time we got back to the mainland we were hooked, and we'd agreed that we'd make it our mission to go to as many of these lumps of rock as we possibly could.

Great big lumps with towns and roads and factories on, little tiny lumps with no good use to anyone, and the best ones of all, those ones in the middle, small enough to remain apart from the busy comings and goings of the mainland, but big enough to have a story, a history and an atmosphere all of their own.

Since then we've added to the list when we can, and we've got a whole lot more exciting adventures planned for this summer and beyond...
